Focala Now Supports Custom MCP Connections
Connect Focala to your MCP-compatible AI client to ask AI search visibility questions and generate reports directly in the conversation. Explore findings and refine summaries without repeatedly copying data between tools.
Your AI search visibility workflow can now happen inside the AI client you already use. Focala now supports custom MCP connections, allowing you to ask questions about your visibility and generate reports directly in a connected AI conversation.
Instead of moving information between a dashboard, a chat window, and a report draft, you can work with the Focala data available through your connection. Start with a question, explore the answer, and ask your assistant to organize the findings for your team.
What is an MCP connection?
MCP stands for Model Context Protocol. It provides a standard way for AI applications to connect with external tools and data sources. For Focala users, custom MCP support creates another way to work with AI search visibility information: through a compatible AI assistant.
The benefit is practical. Rather than repeatedly copying information into a chat, you can ask your AI client to use the information available through the Focala connection. Your questions, follow-ups, and report drafts can stay in the same conversation.
Use Focala with a compatible AI client
Whether your preferred assistant is Claude, ChatGPT, Gemini, Grok, Perplexity, or another AI client, the key requirement is support for custom MCP connections in the version and account you use.
Client compatibility matters. Connection options, permissions, and setup vary across products, plans, and deployments. Focala’s custom MCP support does not mean every interface of every assistant can connect in the same way.
Check your client’s custom MCP capabilities before getting started. Once connected, the questions you can answer will depend on the data and capabilities available through your Focala connection.
Ask questions about your AI search visibility
A useful analysis often starts with a straightforward question: what should we pay attention to? With Focala connected, you can ask for a summary and then explore specific findings without starting a new workflow.
For example, try:
- “Summarize the AI search visibility information available for my brand.”
- “Which findings in the connected data deserve our marketing team’s attention?”
- “Explain these results in plain language.”
- “What additional information would we need before deciding on next steps?”
Follow-up questions help make an answer more useful. Ask the assistant to explain its reasoning, identify the information behind a conclusion, or distinguish an observed result from a possible explanation.
This is especially important when moving from reporting to recommendations. A clear summary should tell you what the available data shows and what remains uncertain, rather than treating every interpretation as a fact.
Generate reports directly in the conversation
Once you have explored the findings, ask your AI client to turn them into a report. Specify the audience, length, and structure so the output fits the task.
A leadership summary might focus on the most important findings and their implications. A marketing team brief might include more supporting detail and questions for further investigation. Both can start from the same connected information.
Use a prompt like this: “Create a report from the available Focala data. Include an executive summary, key findings, data limitations, and suggested follow-up questions. Separate evidence-backed findings from recommendations.”
Then refine the draft in the same conversation. Shorten the summary, clarify unfamiliar terms, or ask for stronger supporting evidence. Review the final output before sharing it, especially any recommendations or claims that go beyond the connected data.
Less copying, more time understanding the results
Custom MCP connections give you more flexibility in how you use Focala. You can bring AI search visibility information into the environment where you already ask questions, develop ideas, and prepare team updates.
The goal is not simply to put the same data in another interface. It is to make the path from a visibility question to a useful report more direct. With Focala connected to a compatible AI client, exploration and reporting can become one continuous conversation.
