See how Focala Pulse combined GA4 behavior and server crawler logs to investigate 3,745 sessions, three CTA clicks and zero conversions.
3,745 Sessions. Three CTA Clicks. Zero Pipeline: How Focala Pulse Found the Bot Traffic Behind a GA4 Spike.
In an anonymized audit, sessions rose from 68 in the previous 30 days to 3,745 in the current 30 days. Unique visitors on Oct 6, 7 and 8 were 316, 864 and 2,169 respectively. These are the reported dates, not a complete daily series.
Engagement fell from 25% to 0.56%, with engaged sessions moving from 17 to 21. Average scroll depth fell from 16% to 0%. Of 3,745 sessions, 3,724 were not engaged.
Direct traffic accounted for 3,737 sessions (99.8%), compared with seven referral sessions and one organic search session. 3,744 sessions had no UTM parameters.
Server logs recorded 4,014 AI crawler fetches, including 4,010 Meta-ExternalAgent fetches across 2,111 pages, plus 2,690 unknown-bot fetches, 1,249 Googlebot hits and 15 Bingbot hits.
The measured funnel recorded three CTA clicks, zero pricing-page visits, zero demo bookings and zero signups. The spike produced no recorded pipeline conversions in this report.
GA4 measures browser behavior; server logs expose request-level crawler activity. Many crawlers do not execute JavaScript, while automated browsers can appear in client analytics. Combining both helps distinguish real demand from artificial traffic. Server requests are not GA4 sessions and cannot be matched one-to-one from this summary.
Recommended next steps are to review bot filtering and edge protection, validate conversion tracking, and improve conversion paths for engaged visitors. No post-remediation uplift is claimed. All charts are reconstructed from the first supplied report, not original product screenshots.
